This is probably not relevant to travellers but I loved the novelty of the themed rooms and the meticulous detail going into the decor and furnishings of each room to reflect the theme. I had the Leopard room, and everything from the door stopper to the wall runner to the blankets and curtains were leopards or leopard spots 🐆 the animal murals in each room are beautiful. It’s walking distance from the grey river, Greymouth railway station, supermarket, and several eateries. It was quiet other than the relentless chirping of cicadas (or some other insect I don’t know). You can see the sunset from the balcony on the upper floor. The toilets were fairly clean. Tip: for couples or singles, ask for the Giraffe room - I think it’s the best one with the most windows and light upstairs.

Overall was an amazing experience would highly recommend to future occupants looking at coming to stay here. The owners were lovely and made you feel welcome and comfortable expecially on Xmas they made me feel apart of their whanau. The bathrooms were always cleaned to perfection. The rooms were spacious and kitchen was greatly organised. The piano and guitars for use were an upgrade and just set the ambiance of the whole place. And to top it all off the views from the balcony overlooking the ocean in the distance and the view of surrounding mountains. Loved and enjoyed it so much decided to stay an extra week.

Linda and Harry are really lovely hosts, it was a feeling like family to stay at Noah's Ark :) also the people who volunteered during my stay are lovely - please send greetings to M,K,J,W when u read this :) to Jessie the cat and Cosmo the dog please, too! The place offered a huge backyard, kitchen, laundry, plenty of bathrooms and showers and a nice mix of travelers from all around the world :) The location is great, near to Kings walk, the city centre and rail station including grocery store. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Greymouth again. Love, Ginger x

I was traveling solo with my infant. The whole vibe at Noah’s Ark is so great. Harry and Linda - the owners - are amazing and the staff has been very friendly and welcoming. I even extended my stay there and had a lovely time there. There is a big kitchen, lounge, and dining space. The location is also perfect. You can make your base there and go for day trips to Franz Josef, Punakaiki, Hokitika, etc. Very close to the i-site.

A very nice ambience in this historic house, lovely touches with the paintings on wall & each room individulized & colourful. We loved our room with windows on 2 sides where we could soak in afternoon sun. Well stocked kitchen & quality linens. Host took time to chat with us at length - Very much appreciated the ride he gave us to restaurant when there was a long wait for a taxi & we had a reservation.
